oh december......holiday fever!

on the 7th december my mom, dad and kids and i went to a family festival just outside stellenbosch. i won a family ticket for 4 to go to the festival. it was on a very hot day, luckily we got a spot under a umbrella. the kids had so much fun....hoola hooping, dancing and watching the remote control planes. dante has some serious moves when he hoola hoops, moon walk and side steps, cool dude!

let the holidays begin!

this year i had a full 4 week holiday, we closed on the 12th december and

re-open on the 12th january, whooop whooop!!!

and this is how the holiday started..........

lucius & chantell invited myself and the kids to zevenwacht wine estate 

on the 14th december for a picnic / braai and so that i could take some family pics of them. 

the 15th december myself, the kids, chantell and cayden went to the waterfront. first breakfast at mugg & bean and then off to the oceanarium. dante was there years ago and was still young and abi had never been before. 

on walking out we found father xmas, kids wanted a pic with him and they got xmas hats for free. that put a smile on their faces. even cayden got to get a photo with father xmas.

on the 16th of december i took the kids back to the waterfront. we went to art of the brick, a art exhibition made of lego. it was awesome to see. 

from there we took a walk to the reptile trailer. the guy running it was very nice and let us take photos inside, which you are not allowed to do, BUT he said the kids were so well behaved that i could take some pics for them. 

then a walk down the seapoint promenade

17 till 28th december

a outing to radloff park for some roller skating and model plain flying. abi had a friend over, megan. so cute how they helped eachother. otto showed dante how to fly and then he showed me, it is damn difficult, hahaha

another part of the lagoon where we sat and had lunch and then a swim    

from langebaan we went to port owen, where otto's parents boat is. 

it was the first time that the kids slept on a boat, they were so excited.

christmas morning, opening up of gifts. we went to spur for christmas lunch, that way i didn't need to cook and do dishes (big grin on my face)

another outing or 2......rhodes memorial and then to world of birds in hout bay

day out to palmiet river, some bouldering in kleinmond

and then some swimming & jumping in the river. 

my rubber arm was twisted to jump off the rocks on the side of the river, i said yes. why, i have no idea. when i got to where i was suppose to jump from, i froze. i was too scared. with some persuasion from otto i jumped. he jumped with me to make me feel better. i landed at a bit of a angle into the water and hurt my coccyx, hahaha, stupid me! 

otto was brave enough to jump from the bridge. there is no ways i would of. 

back home and trying out the new slackline 

had an awesome holiday with the kids doing the touristy things around 

cape town and being able to take them to kleinmond, langebaan and port owen.

what i did in november 2014

abi's end of year concert at die wingerd, also her last 

concert for die wingerd. she looked beautiful! 

grade 1 orientation morning at de hoop, they didn't need to 

wear their school uniform, BUT abi was so excited and just had to wear hers.

end of november a few of us rock chicks went to montagu for a camping and climbing weekend. it was sooooo much fun, awesome friends, stunning place. 

day ONE....

a interesting day out - cactus scratch, top rope fall no 1, top rope fall for pose no 2, eina lead fall, gear left up on route, me stuck on top of the route while the medics attend to the patient, leader gets stuck on route - comes down, knot then left in end of rope - pulled through quickdraw - gets stuck, most gear is now on legoland rock face, now what to do, ingrid saving the day, then a swim to relax & then our adventure continued......wrong turn....wrong kloof, land up at a couple of 30's, comtemplated on maybe trying, hahahaha & then a hike back to the "correct" kloof, cannot cross the river & decide to try a 15 @ supertubes, we had an awesome human sandbag, aka....elisa, dave firsts attempt at lead, wind starts to pump, dave can't hear us & only being 3m up, ingrid then saves the day again & then the hike back to the car, back at camp & the first thingy on we do is..........open a damn beer

day TWO....

waking up early, overcast and a few rain drops, a hangover or 2, but we are determined that we will climb, first we all need coffee and breakfast, elisa starts her famous coffee on the gas stove, leaves me with the responsibility of looking after the coffee while she steps away for a few minutes, me trying to take coffee pot/cup off gas stove...gets stuck...coffee all over the counter and on me, matches are now drenched in coffee, ask around for some matches, 2nd attempt and we have our coffee, breakfast is a mix (including xmas cake, yum) and sharing as some of our stuff was stolen, also donating food to some other ladies whose food was stolen, gear packed and ready to go climb, a walk down to the steeple to start our climbing, i did my first lead in montagu......a SEVEN, hahahahaha, so photo attempt no 2 for the weekend from the top......me climbing up, securing myself, slings to short to actually take pics, ingrids slings get sent up, i drop one, hahahaha, but staying up for now, me asking the ladies down below if i can drop the rope....they say yes.....me letting rope drop, then i am told nooooooooo wrong end....oooops.....miscommunication, ingrid needing to lead the easy route again so that we have the rope up, me then going down as photo spot was not working, cheryl leading gospel express...bolt 8...(after 3 falls!), ingrid then to bolt 8.....then coming down, the rest of us top roping till bolt 8, ingrid then attempting again and getting to bolt 9....awesomeness....cheryl then back up and finishing the route.....HELL YEAH!!!! well done ladies!!!! a few then top roping the route again till the end, then the walk back to the car, a small welcoming party of baboons back at the car and then to camp to pack up, one quick beer, a few laughs, a relocation of a tent, a shower and then back on the road (for a few of us), some lucky ones got to stay for another night. great weekend, great fun, great friends! thanks all!!! will be posting pics soon, hopefully!

myself and otto will be doing a climbing road trip in dec/jan.

 we are wanting to be gone for about 10 days. first four days of the road trips accommodation as been booked at nuwerus, rooiberg, cederburg. from there we are wanting to go to de pakhuys, rocklands and then to de bos, montagu.

i am super excited!
